Jessica Housby dies in Iraq

Quad Cities Online -- MILAN -- When Deborah Bundy spoke to her daughter for the last time Sunday, she thought something was wrong.

"She told me she had a mission to go on Monday. Just the tone of her voice, the way she was acting, she seemed like she was worried about something, but she wouldn't tell me," Ms. Bundy said.

Three days later, 23-year-old Sgt. Jessica Housby was killed in Iraq while serving in the Illinois Army National Guard.

A truck driver with the 1644th Transportation Company, based in Rock Falls, Sgt. Housby was part of a supply truck convoy driving from Convoy Support Center Scania Wednesday on its way to Camp Stryker, an operating base near Baghdad Airport, when a roadside bomb detonated near her truck.

Graveside services, with full military honors, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
